This is a part of the Free Engineering Software Website which provides on-line analytical tools and an archive of free PERL programs. These are designed to solve mechanical engineering problems in areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, economics, and units conversions. This calculator is used to calculate pipe friction losses and uses an algorithm developed from the basic principles of fluid mechanics. It allows you to input parameters such as fluid type, temperature, flow rate, pipe size, pipe length, and pipe material. The calculator then calculates factors such as velocity, the Reynolds number, the Moody friction factor, the pipe friction factor, the pipe head loss, and the pipe friction loss in PSI.
