A banner exchange allows members to promote their sites by having their banner shown on sites in the banner exchange. In return, the members show banners on their own site. You, as the banner exchange operator, are able to take a proportion of the banner impressions (often 50%, but you can choose your own value) which you can use to promote your own website or sell to advertisers for a profit.
The banner exchange requires a working copy of the QAtlantis core and profile module, and hence PHP4 and MySQL. For visitors to see the banners their browser must be able to display images and support IFRAMEs or ILAYERs (Netscape 4+ and IE3+ do).
User-side Features:
Targeting of banners in upto 6 zones from the list the administrator chooses. Banner clicks open in a new window. Statistics on number of banners shown on a members website and click thru ratios. Ability to upload banners from their hard disk or transfer them from other websites.
Members can have multiple banners (administrators can limit the number members can upload).
Administrator-side Features:
Exchanges can be impression-based (normal) or click-based. An unlimited number of zones up to 3 levels deep for members to target their banners under. Ability to give users extra credits, either to sell advertisments, as an incentive to sign up or as a bonus to loyal members. Approval queue, so banners can quickly and easily be checked for taste and decency. Simple administration, including the option of assigning moderators who only have access to the approval queue.
Customizable email to members to inform them of change of status (approving or declining their banners or websites). Ability to check number of members waiting for approval from the windows taskbar, or any internet connected computer. Optional mini-banner below the main banner to advertise your banner exchange.
